Annotation
History of development of the deep-water observatories intended for registration of earthquakes and tsunamis is briefly presented and advantages of deep-water registration of a tsunami in comparison with coastal measurements are described. Features of manifestation of the catastrophic 2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami according to observatories of DONET and DART are discussed.
