Double beta decay

Double beta decay

Ishkhanov B.S.

Memoirs of the Faculty of Physics 2016. N 2.

Double beta decay can occur near the bottom part of the mass valley where a given nucleus $(A,Z)$ has an adjacent nucleus $(A,Z+1)$ with higher mass while the nucleus $(A,Z+2)$ has a lower mass corresponding to an energy difference $\Delta E$. Double beta decay does exist as a second order decay process. The lifetimes estimated are typically of the order $T\approx 10^{20}$ y. Double beta decay carries a number of very intriguing aspects related to neutrino properties. Double beta decay has been observed both by geochemical methods and with counters.

Geometric phase transition in the problem of brachistochrone

Geometric phase transition in the problem of brachistochrone

Gladkov S.O., Bogdanova S.B.

Memoirs of the Faculty of Physics 2016. N 1.

It is found analytical solution of problem I. Bernoulli on the brahistohrone with frictional forces (viscous, proportional to speed motion and dry). It is shown that its solution is represented only in the form quadratures. With the aid of the numerical calculation are given different figures of optimum trajectories under dissipation conditions. It is proven that in the absence frictional forces any motion along the curvilinear chute under the action only of gravitational force is always reduced to the task about the brahistohrone. It is found the point “geometric phase transition”. This point corresponds to the disruption of brahistohrones from one class of trajectories to qualitatively another class. It is shown that with steady state the trajectory takes the form of the usual parabola, motion along which is periodically like the pendulum.

Memoirs of the Faculty of Physics 2016. N 1.

This paper is a preamble to the detailed presentation of the classical mechanics unit “Rotational motion of a rigid body” for minor students in higher school. It clarifies the meaning of notions and definitions used in this unit, such as the rotational motion about an axis, moment of inertia, angular momentum, instantaneous axis of rotation, ellipsoid of inertia, and inertia tensor.

A.V. Dmitriev, N.V. Markov

Memoirs of the Faculty of Physics 2015. N 6.

The work deals with the obtaining and analysis of model of non-equilibrium macroscopic dynamics of the stock market as a thermodynamic type system. We obtained a three-dimensional dynamic system, describing the most important processes occurring in the stock market - the formation of equilibrium prices and the emergence of dynamic chaos. The dynamic variables of the system are the ask anв bid prices.

Memoirs of the Faculty of Physics 2015. N 5.

We present the results of experimental studies of the destruction morphology and the spatial distribution of light emission micro-areas on the surface of LED heterostructures InGaN/GaN of different prehistory after multipulse high-current electron beam irradiation. It is shown that local light emission micro-areas, registered on the background of homogeneous cathodoluminescence in textured samples, are formed due to reflection of stimulated emission from local microfractures. It is found that Lichtenberg figures are formed in GaN epitaxial layers with a high dislocation density of 109 cm-2 under multipulse irradiation of electron beam with an energy density H ≈ 0.2 J/cm2. Interpretation of the results is given on the basis of ideas about electric-discharge mechanism of destruction of insulators and semiconductors under the action of high-current electron beams. We suggest that stimulated luminescence effects on the microfractures multiplication during multipulse irradiation of heterostructures by high-current electron beam. Visualization of defective areas due to localization of electrical breakdown in these areas can be the basis of a diagnostic method of electrical microheterogeneities formed in LED heterostructures during growth.

Memoirs of the Faculty of Physics 2015. N 5.

Results of theoretical calculation of space-charge waves amplification cutoff frequency fc in thin-film n-InN and n-GaAs semiconductor structures are given in this paper. It is shown that fc is about 200 GHz for indium nitride and 55 GHz for gallium arsenide.

Memoirs of the Faculty of Physics 2015. N 4.

The results of numerical simulation of the interaction between the relativistic electron beam focused by constant magnetic field and the field of an axisymmetric overmoded periodic waveguide are reported. Cyclotron resonant signal amplification and cyclotron absorbtion ranges were revealed, the dynamics of beam electrons was studied, as well as the role of beam parameters that affect the cyclotron resonance.

The semiconductor superlattice is the composite nanostructure used for the generation and the control of the high-frequency oscillations. At present time, attention of the researchers is attracted to the nonlinear dynamics of the electron domains at present nanostructures. In this paper the period-doubling bifurcation phenomena in the semiconductor superlattice under the influence of the titled magnetic field for different temperatures is described.

The main aim is to develop a method for calculating the structure of the wave field in a heterogeneous medium of skull bone. Phantoms of cranial bones were created and measurement techniques of their acoustic parameters were developed. Principal ultrasonic reconstruction of the real skull bone profile was accomplished.
