We consider ionospheric effects of strong (G3) geomagnetic storm of the end of May, 2017 and sudden stratospheric warming events of 2015-2016 winter season and discuss the possibilities of using the signals of COMPASS/BeiDou geostationary satellites for studing ionospheric variability caused by different geomagnetic and meteorological disturbing factors.
