Nonstationary velocity fields behind shock (blast) waves in air have been studied experimentally by the particle image velocimetry (PIV) technique. Shock waves have been initiated by surface sliding discharge of nanosecond duration (plasma sheet) in air at pressure of (2÷4)$\times 10^{4}$ Pa. Analysis of the spatial distribution of flow velocities behind shock waves showed that the pulsed energy deposition is homogeneous along the discharge channels of a plasma sheet.
